Lotus Exige Sport 380

For its pin-sharp steering and superb responsiveness alone, the Lotus Exige Sport 380 is easily one of the best vehicles in its class. Lighter than ever and thus primed to deliver optimal performance levels, this sports car is guaranteed to thrill, each and every time.

Lavish amounts of carbon fibre have gone into the construction of the Sport 380, accounting for its 1,110kg kerb weight. This super-lightweight material has been put to enticing aesthetic use too. The vehicle’s stunning body kit is replete with muscular curves, and provides the car with its low-slung, aggressive stance. This two-door car has been aerodynamically optimised too, with each contour designed to deliver maximum downforce – and lightning-quick acceleration and speed.

This two-person speedster provides driver and co-passenger with carbon-fibre sports seats, each trimmed with black Alcantara and adorned with eye-catching contrast stitching. Also worthy of comment are a black leather-clad steering wheel, a leather-wrapped handbrake and a polished-aluminium gear knob. When you’re buckled-up and ready to hit the open road, simply press the dashboard-mounted starter button to commence your next exciting excursion.

The Exige Sport 380 is propelled by a 3.5-litre 375bhp petrol engine, which is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. This V6 unit delivers 410Nm of torque and sees the car proceed from a standing stop to 60mph in just 3.5 seconds. On the race track, the Sport 380 has no problem reaching a top speed of 178mph.

Technology and safety

The vehicle’s range of driver aids include Electronic Differential Lock (optimised by Bosch), which significantly reduces tyre wear and prevents any one wheel from spinning. Dynamic Performance Management (developed by Lotus itself) delivers enhanced stability. The car also comes with Lotus-tuned Anti-lock Braking System, which prevents wheel lock-up and minimises loss of traction. Thanks to the presence of rear-mounted sensors, parking the Exige Sport 380 is an absolute breeze.

The vehicle’s lightweight aluminium chassis is exceptionally rigid and, along with a T45 steel roll hoop, provides excellent protection. Airbags are provided, too. The car’s blistering pace is firmly counteracted by the inclusion of two-piece high-performance grooved brake discs, which have been designed by motorsport specialists, AP Racing.
